Up for sale is a great vintage t-shirt from the late 1990's featuring my favorite cartoon character, Droopy. For those that don't know Droopy, he's an animated cartoon character created by Tex Avery in 1943 for theatrical cartoon shorts produced by the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio. Droopy is an anthropomorphic dog (Basset Hound) with a droopy face (hence the name Droopy) who moves slowly & lethargically and speaks in a jowly monotone voice. He's still popular today, almost 75-years after his introduction to the cartoon world.
I remember watching Droopy cartoons as a child back in the 1960's, so when I came across this t-shirt at a Warner Bros. store in Scottsdale, Arizona, I just had to have it. It was only worn several times, then washed & retired to the closet where it remained until being packed up for a long distance move in 2005 and remained in a vacuum-seal bag until I came across it recently. The shirt looks great after all these years and the Droopy image still looks like new. Can't go wrong with this now hard-to-find piece of cartoon memorabilia.
